We love our new home and plan to retire there!
We wanted to get a head start on our growing family by selling our current 1800 sqft home and building a new 3000 sqft home. Little did we know that our family would be growing immediately! We had plans to use the front office/study as a craft room, but when we got news of our new baby, we immediately had the perfect spot close to the master suite for the new baby room. We are able to put our 4 and 2 year old upstairs with their ever growing toy collection and still invite guests to stay with us on occasion. The spacious attic space will allow us to organize and store our keepsakes and other items for many many years to come. We love our new home and plan to retire there! Thank you for having this plan on your website!
This house has been a real blessing for every member of our family, and will be a cherished home for many generations to come!
When my husband Bruce and I were dating seventeen years ago, we loved to dream and plan our future together. One thing that was important to both of us was to eventually build a house that would be a home for our family for many generations. My grandparents lived on a beautiful hillside farm that I had grown up next to for twenty-five years. It was a dream for me to have my children play in the same woods I played in as a child. My husband shared my dream, and so for fifteen years we prayed, saved, and planned. We looked at thousands of house plans. We knew exactly what we needed, what we wanted, and what we could only dream of. The first plans we liked slowly gave way to bigger ones as our family grew. My grandparents passed within three years of each other. The sorrow we felt at their loss was tempered only by the knowledge that my grandfather, Elmer, and grandmother, Dora, would love that their beloved great-grandchildren were bringing life back to "The Old Homeplace." The features that really drew us to this particular plan were the traditional beauty and functionality of the home. We were building on an existing 100 year old farm and wanted the house to look like it belonged there, without sacrificing any comforts. Over the past eight months, we have had the joy and privelege of watching the birth of a new chapter of our lives. We are moving from a 1500 square foot house in Defiance, Ohio, with very little yard to play in, and traffic such that I worry to let my children play outside alone. My 11-year-old daughter Emily is the fortunate child; she has her own room. My four sons, ages 4-14, share a room with two sets of bunk beds. There is not enough room to have dresser space for everyone. The one bathroom is a challenge on busy school days! The kitchen is inexplicably shrinking as the kids grow. Once everyone is seated at the table, no one can get up because there's not enough room to walk around the table! It's ok, if anyone needs a knife or fork, I only have to lean over to get it out of the drawer, and my husband can lean over to the stove to reach the pans. Tv and movies are usually watched with us laying all over each other like a pack of dogs. The heartbreak for me came when my son Elijah asked a friend over to spend the night, and the friend said our house was too small. NO MORE! As soon as we saw these plans, we said that THIS was the perfect one for our family! Beautiful on its own, and so easy to modify for our needs and dreams. Our new house has room for everyone, and then some! We have had so many people comment that the house looks like it belongs to the surroundings. The cheery yellow siding, white gingerbread trim on the porch and the fishscale siding in the peaks just cry farmhouse. We love to sit on the wide front porch and just enjoy the serenity as we watch the kids catch fireflies. We can sit in the back enclosed porch to relax and watch the kids play, or just watch the chickens as they peck around looking for bugs in the yard. The sound of rain on the green metal roof is one of my favorite sounds. To sit in the study in the window seat and read a book while the rain hits the roof...Heaven! The kids take such pride in their own space. They never imagined they would each get their own room! Even our four year old son Gideon loves his own room. He loves the "secret room" we tucked under the eaves for his toys. The bathrooms are wonderful - two or three sharing a bathroom is really a luxury! The large closets and amount of space for storage is more than we could have hoped for. We truly appreciate all the special touches of the house, and there is no unused or wasted space, which was important to me. The pantry area is a favorite of mine. No more storing food and pans in the basement! A long counter holds the crock pots, roasters and coffee pot, and a pocket door slides to hide it all in a moment. My children now understand the old adage, "a place for everything and everything in its place." The family room is roomy yet welcoming. No longer will we have to pile on one another to watch tv (but we may choose to!). The gas fireplace in the family room will be well used, and so easy to use. The gas fireplace in the master bedroom will keep us toasty on blustery winter evenings, or when the electricity fails, as it often does out in the country. The kids have so much room to spread out, and no reason not to have friends over. The huge bonus area over the garage will be their favorite place to hang out, but the basement has plenty of room for the workout equipment that we had no space for in our first home. It will get a lot of use from my oldest son Zack as he trains for wrestling season. There's still plenty of space to put a pool table, and even a ping pong table that has been requested by our nine-year-old Luke. I was raised to be happy with what we have, but to be truly thankful for what we have been blessed with. This house has been a real blessing for every member of our family, and will be a cherished home for many generations to come. This designer's plans were great to build from, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new home for their family!
I love the house plan that we chose and I only made some minor changes.? I just can't wait for the house to be built so I can live in it!

Our experience with this designer was a home buyers dream...
Our experience with this designer was a home buyers dream. We found a plan we liked, made the adjustments that best fit our family, and never had a bad experience in the process. We have had people from our subdivision and others, as well as people from out of state, stop us in our yard to ask about the house and where we purchased our plan. Thank you for making the home building experience magnificent!
Your staff was very helpful throughout the process...
We had a good experience with this designer; we chose a stock plan and wanted to make a few modifications. Your staff was very helpful with this and provided objective insight into the pros and cons of various modifications we thought we wanted. In the end, we ended up changing the plan some and realized some of our ideas should be left on the drawing board”. We were happy with the quality, service, and value that we experienced throughout the process.
Everyday, we realize how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful home...
Soon after my husband and I were married, we knew we were going to need a bigger house. I began looking at houseplans on the internet and must have looked at hundreds over 6 months or more. We finally decided that a certain home design would work best for our family and the land it would be sitting on. Our house sits on the former land of my parents right across from their house, located in a rural area. I wanted our house to look like a modern country home. The front and back porched remind me of my grandparents homes which were only a few miles from ours. The interior of our home has changed our lives because it provides both parents and children their privacy by separating the bedrooms on either end of the house. In our previous house, the bedrooms were so close together that we could hear everything from room to room as if the doors were open. The kitchen and livingroom of of our other house were separated and left the cook (me) feeling isolated and left out. Now the only thing separating the areas are two two 2-foot partial walls where the flooring changes. The garage is very spacious and we have so much potential storage area off the bonus room that we will never need it all. Speaking of the bonus room, we are using it as a home gym and gameroom which my husband and kids absolutely love. There are so many features that we love it's hard to name just a few. We love the front and back porches. We recently had a patio put in off the back porch and we love it. On the inside, I love the split bedroom design because it gives me and my husband some much needed privacy. The open kitchen and livingroom design keeps the family together during the day. We put a bedroom in the flex space which will easily be changed into an office as the children leave home. We have only 3 left living with us now. I modified the masterbath by reversing the toilet room with a jetted tub/shower and took out the shower stall. It gave us tons on room for cabinets. We also modified the exterior/front where the garage is. We also added a mudroom in the garage where we put a sink and toilet so that my husband would have it handy when he was working in his detached garage. I cannot end the story of our home without mentioning our wonderful builder. He helped us save so much money by letting us be the co-contractors. All along the way he tried to get us the best deals on supplies and let me pay all the suppliers early inorder to get discounts. We also did all of the interior painting and caulking to save money. Our home is worth approximately $50,000 more than it costs us, according to an unofficial appraisal. Everyday, we realize how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful home. It all started with the designer's plans, which arrived only 3 days after I ordered them. Thank you for improving our quality of life and giving us the home of our dreams.
The layout of this home has brought our family closer together in ways that we never could have imagined...
My husband has had the vision to build for several years and the timing was right for our family in terms of the economy and employment situations. There are so many features that we LOVE! The large front porch (where I have added a porch swing), the covered backporch, the large great room, the breakfast area, the kitchen, the master bath! When my husband and I saw this house plan, we both knew it was the perfect house plan for our family and would meet all of our needs and wants. Our lot overlooks a wooded area so the large number of windows provide access to gorgeous wooded views that some find only in vacation homes. There are many features to this house that we absolutely love, but as a mom, the large breakfast area is one of my favorites. We have only lived in this home two short months, but the breakfast area has already provided several opportunities for our family to come together over meals and board games while spending time together. In addition, it is nice to be in the kitchen close by while my children have their friends over and are hanging out/ snacking (as kids and teens will do). The porches are another favorite! Since I was a girl growing up next to an elderly lady who would invite me to sit and talk on her front porch swing, I have always dreamed of owning a home with a porch swing and now I have it! The memories that I have of the time I spent with my Christian neighbor and the values she imparted to me are priceless because we had a place to relax and spend time. I now have my own porch swing on my front porch to share with my own children. This is also the first time my family has had a covered back porch. We have spent more time outdoors in two months on the back porch then we did in an entire year at our old home with a deck. We've enjoyed rain storms, reading books, meals and more in the shade and privacy of our covered back porch. The bedroom layout of this house plan was also perfect for our family. We have three children ages 6, 10 and 13 (two boys and a girl). The bedroom with the bathroom inside of it was perfect for my only daughter (who is also the youngest). She feels like she is a princess in her pink bedroom with a purple bathroom.
Due to the way the roof line fell, the builder was able to expand this room (with a sloped ceiling). The extra play space is perfect for her dollhouse and other "girl" toys. My two boys have the bedrooms at the top of the stairs facing the front of the house. The large closets give them room for their sports equipments and hobbies (and clothes). The boys also share the bathroom in the upstairs hall. It is perfect! We added a double vanity (instead of one) so that each of my boys would have their own sink bowl (no fighting over who is going to brush their teeth first !). The door between the toilet/shower area and the vanity area also gives each boy the privacy he needs. Lastly, my husband and I have a master bedroom downstairs which makes this a house we can grow old in! The large closets are also a plus and make it easier to keep our things separate and neat. The window over the garden tub looks over the wooded area behind our home and it is a wonderful view that we enjoy each day! My husband's job is based from our home so the home office gives him a private place to work (with doors). The workshop area in the garage also gives him the storage space he needs without having work files cluttering the living areas of our home. In the garage, we divided the garage area and made one car stall separate with a wall. This allowed us to have space for a weight room / fitness area. This means all our equipment, including the treadmill, have a place of their own (and not in the living areas of the house). We opted to finish out the bonus room at the top of the stairs (complete with French doors) for our children (and their friends) to have a place to hang out and play. We've added a television and video games, football table, air hockey and more! This is a great place for our kid's friends. At night, they can roll out the sleeping bags and crash. It has been a lot of fun having this space. We also added a large closet off from the bonus room upstairs. The closet is lined with shelves for legos, board games, toy sets, books and more. This house is the house of our dreams. When my husband and I saw the plan, we both knew right away that this was it! After living here for two months, we were right. The layout of this home has brought our family closer together in ways that we never could have imagined. Family ties are important in this busy world in which we are pulled in so many directions. I am grateful for my home and the opportunity to share my excitement with you! There are so many more things I could share - like the great builder we had, the wonderful woodwork, the gorgeous kitchen, but I think you get the picture! Thank you for making our dreams come true!
You have been excellent to work with. I'll have to admit, we've never done this before, much less working with someone online, but you far exceeded our expectations! We are so excited about getting started on our house. The Lord has really blessed us to be able to this and we give Him all the thanks.I will send you pics of the house once we have completed if you like. Take care and thanks again!!
The designer's even had someone come in on a day off to reverse the plans and got them to us later that same day!
We moved to North Carolina from Idaho in 2010 due to a military permanent change of station. In the military, moves are anything but permanent. We began looking for a house with 4 bedrooms and a bonus, in the fall of 2009. It was important to us that we had a home that would accommodate a growing family. We currently have 2 year old boy/girl twins, and wanted them to be able to have their own rooms when they got older, and have another bedroom for a nursery for a future child. We also wanted to have a bonus room for out-of-town guests since our family all lives out of state. It seemed that all the houses on the market were only 3 bedrooms with a bonus, and despite having more square footage than our home in Idaho, they had less usable space, with only a small family room. (Our home in Idaho was a 3 bedroom home, but had a large family room, and small office, and a living room.) All the 4 bedroom+ homes we saw had only the master on the first floor, and the rest of the bedrooms upstairs. Because we have little ones, we wanted to have the bedrooms on the first floor, with the master on one side of the house and the bedrooms on the other. We finally decided that the best option would be to build a home. Something that we had done in Idaho. With mortgage rates being so low, it was a good time to be able to build. We began meeting with builders and looked at a few builder spec plans, but did not see what we were looking for. We finally began looking on-line through thousands of plans, and discovered House Plan Gallery's HPG-2400 Morgan Ridge home plan and the HPG-2212 Hampton Avenue home design Both plans being very similar, offered exactly what we were looking for. The size of the breakfast areas could accommodate a dining room table and hutch which would allow the flex-space to be used as a study. Most people never use their formal dining rooms but once a year, so to us it seemed like a waste of space. We decided after comparing both plans and costs, that the Hampton Ave was the one for us. We love the exterior with the front bedroom with the bay window and the stone accents. The two covered porches are great for sitting outside and enjoying the evenings. Thankfully, we found a great builder who did an awesome job building our home and being responsive to all of our requirements. The team over at House Plan Gallery was also very helpful, especially when right before we were to break ground, the building department decided they wanted a reverse set of plans before they would issue the permits. We had to reverse the plans due to placement of the septic tank on the lot.Someone had come in on a day off to reverse the plans and got them to us later that same day! The process of building this home went much smoother than building our first home in Idaho did. The house turned out beautiful and we are very satisfied. The house has plenty of space for our family. The twins share a room currently, and we use one bedroom as a play room, and the other is an extra guest room that will eventually be turned into a nursery for another child. The bonus room is complete with a bathroom and shower and is perfect when grandparents come to visit, which they do frequently. The kitchen has plenty of counter-space and cabinets. The Hampton Ave is a great house plan, and we continually get great comments from family, friends and neighbors on how nice the house is. Several neighbors have even told us that this is their favorite house in the neighborhood. (I'm sure thats next to their own!) We are very thankful and blessed that we could build such a wonderful home!
