Want to See Even More Reasons Why People Choose Biloxi House Plans.com Over All Other Home Designers?
We just looked at each other and knew that this was the plan…
We were newlyweds living in a mobile home in a small town rural area when we felt a desire for a larger, more permanent home. We were growing concerned that our mobile home would eventually require too much upkeep and through the wisdom of our parents, felt that a site-built home would be a wiser investment. However, at our fairly young age, we were not sure how much of a home we could afford. At first we began browsing for house plans for the future. We found ourselves wanting to change every plan we came across to fit our lives. We looked through countless books and almost gave up. We happened upon looking online and found our plan immediately. We just looked at each other and knew that this was the plan. It had everything we wanted to add to the other plans. With the help of online calculators, we found that by ordering our plan ourselves and subcontracting, we could afford a home much more easily than by hiring a general contractor. Not only that, but we could build a larger, more customized home this way. Everything came into place. We suddenly received an offer on our mobile home and with today's housing market, felt it was time to act. We found the perfect home site, began the mortgage process and everything moved very quickly from that point on. We did have to meet with contractors several times a week, but felt that by being involved in the process, our house was going to be very special and exactly what we wanted. We finished our home in record time and feel unbelievably blessed. Our home is much more than we ever expected we could have. All of our contractors, inspectors, and even the appraiser fell absolutely in love with the layout of our home and wanted to know where we found our plan. Our friends and family also greatly approved and thought our home was much more costly than it actually was. We have now been in our new home for about six months, so we are still arranging some things to our taste, but every day we feel continually grateful for the home we have. We absolutely enjoy it. Our home has room for any changes that might take place in our family and our lives.
We loved the floorplan layout and the classic, simple roof line of the house...
We had been trying to sell our small house in town for over a year. We had found 24 acres in the country, with a beautiful view from the top of the hill. We bought that property in September 2006, and my wife got pregnant in October. We weren't sure what we would do if the baby came before we sold the house, as we were already pretty cramped in 950 square feet with all of our stuff, and our 100 lb chocolate lab. In December, we got an offer on the house, and we closed in February. We had already been looking at house plans online and new houses in the area to get an idea of what we would want to build. After we accepted the offer on the house, we got serious about putting together the house of our dreams. After weeks of poring over plans online, we selected a certain design, because we loved the layout and the classic, simple roof line of the house. We also liked the fact that, while the garage is at the front of the house, the door is on the side, so that it's not such a prominent feature that you often see on newer homes. Some of the features that drew us to this plan were the open floor plan for the great room/dining room/kitchen, along with the master suite being separated from the other bedrooms, and we worked with our builder for several weeks after selecting this plan, to turn it into our dream home. After all the changes were made, the plan had grown to roughly 2000 square feet on the main floor, with a full unfinished basement underneath. After we closed on the old house, we moved into the in-laws basement, excited about starting the new chapter in our lives! My Uncle Michael was the builder, so we were able to work very close with him throughout the build. We broke ground in March 2007, and the rain delayed us from making further progress for almost a month. After that, we were able to make quick progress, and Michael was able to tweak our changes on the fly. When it was all said and done, we moved into the house in August 2007, just five months after breaking ground. We had a big moving in party, and dozens of family and friends came to help us put the finishing touches on the house, hanging decorations, putting furniture together, and christening the place with our first cookout. We’ve had several get-togethers here since, and the open floor plan allows everyone to be together in our huge great room, or the big, open, unfinished basement. The ceiling in the great room is even high enough to fly mini R/C helicopters around! Our location is wonderful, on the highest hill in the area, with a great 360 degree view. The large yard is great for playing with my son and our dog. Over the last few years, we’ve been slowly making improvements to the place, getting the front yard reseeded in 2008 and improving our landscaping over the last 2 years. We’ve planted an orchard behind the house, with apple, persimmon and pear trees, and hope to add many more trees over the next few years. We also planted a garden last year, built a deck on the rear of the house, and a swing-set in the back yard. Future plans are to continue to improve the landscaping with flower beds all around the front of the house, stepping stones from the front door to the driveway, finish the basement and add a patio to the walkout. This designer has been a great design team to work with and I would recommend their plans to anyone!
The open floor plan is ideal for being able to cook, and visit, and watch television all at the same time...
I was born and raised in the country. One day, I got to thinking life might be simpler if I live in town, closer to everything and a smaller yard. So, we sold and moved to town. Boy, was I wrong. After 4 years, (and a death in our family), we sold our home in town and decided to go back to our roots, out in the country, to live close to Grandma after Grandpa passed away in July 2009. So, we began searching the internet and bought several books of house plans. Nothing. We went back to the internet and just so happened to find this plan. We were excited. It was perfect. The open floor plan, the porches, the media room, we could not have designed a plan better ourselves. We ordered the plan and got busy. We even decided to serve as our own contractor and build the house ourselves. It has been a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. This house is more roomy that I ever thought 1853 square feet could be, especially coming from a 2600 square foot house prior to this one. The open floor plan is ideal for being able to cook, and visit, and watch television all at the same time... Thank you for giving us the opportunity, and inspiration, to come back to our roots and helping us build the house we have always dreamed of having.
We would recommend this designer without reservation!
This designer has been a pleasure to work with on designing the plans for our new home. They have been available to answer any and all questions that my wife and I have had. Stephen made several relevant suggestions to us to help us through this process. My wife and I are contracting our house ourselves and the team at House Plan Gallery has been there to help direct us on each phase. We did make several modifications to the original plan we selected and this company was ready willing and able to make it happen. We would recommend this designer without reservation!
This home will make a tremendous difference in our family's lives, and we owe it all to this designer...
I am 68 and my husband is 70 years old, and we have a 48 year old son who was involved in a near fatal car accident four and a half years ago. He is now completely wheelchair dependent, has a wife with two kids, and now lives with us. We take care of him morning to night, and many of the day-to-day tasks are quite time consuming and strenuous, especially for people of our age. Our previous home did not work well with our son's wheelchair, and after praying for some time, we found a house plan that had been built here locally. We immediately fell in love with this beautiful plan and are now in the process of building it with full wheelchair-accessibility, and cannot wait to get moved in... This home will make a tremendous difference in our family's lives, and we owe it all to this designer...
Our builder says he had more compliments on this home than any home he has ever contracted!
My name is Sylvia, my husband is Larry. We live in Griffin, Georgia. We built our home two years ago this June. We love it. I’ll try to explain some of the things about the house along with pictures. I LOVE MY HOUSE. My husband and I are living in our sixth new home. When deciding to build this house we were looking for something that would fit our needs, without getting into a large home, because it’s just the two of us. We like the look of the craftsman style, although we made a few changes on the plans inside and on the outside. Changing these fit our need a little better. We opened the flex room, adding five large posts instead of keeping the walls. This space, now open, flows into the great room/den. We put the fireplace/gas logs on the wall area backing the hall, also adding bookcases next to the fireplace. We then put windows where the fireplace was shown on the plans. This makes a great view across our covered screened porch, deck, and yard and woods. In the kitchen, we kept the bar on the same level as the counter top; this opens up into the breakfast room. We added large windows in the breakfast room where it called for a door to the covered porch. We put the door in the great room on a wall along the side of two large windows. The master bedroom is great. We painted it a beautiful suede leather brown with white trim, this color flows into the master bath where we have a large walk-in shower. Pictures will hopefully show you the changes. Several reasons for choosing this floor plan were so we could make a few changes, making it our own. We looked at book after book, and plan after plan before choosing. But, this was the right choice for us. Our builder says he had more compliments on this home than any home he has ever contracted. Come for a visit. I’ll be happy to show you our home.
