We probably looked at upwards of 500 house plans...

We had been waiting for years for a lot to become available in our neighborhood and the owners finally decided they were ready to sell. We probably looked at upwards of 500 house plans trying to find just the right features and style for us. The HPG-1816-1 house plan we settled on had everything we wanted, including the style and appearance that set it apart from the other homes in our area.We couldn't be happier with our choice!

The designer's even had someone come in on a day off to reverse the plans and got them to us later that same day!

We moved to North Carolina from Idaho in 2010 due to a military permanent change of station. In the military, moves are anything but permanent. We began looking for a house with 4 bedrooms and a bonus, in the fall of 2009. It was important to us that we had a home that would accommodate a growing family. We currently have 2 year old boy/girl twins, and wanted them to be able to have their own rooms when they got older, and have another bedroom for a nursery for a future child. We also wanted to have a bonus room for out-of-town guests since our family all lives out of state. It seemed that all the houses on the market were only 3 bedrooms with a bonus, and despite having more square footage than our home in Idaho, they had less usable space, with only a small family room. (Our home in Idaho was a 3 bedroom home, but had a large family room, and small office, and a living room.) All the 4 bedroom+ homes we saw had only the master on the first floor, and the rest of the bedrooms upstairs. Because we have little ones, we wanted to have the bedrooms on the first floor, with the master on one side of the house and the bedrooms on the other. We finally decided that the best option would be to build a home. Something that we had done in Idaho. With mortgage rates being so low, it was a good time to be able to build. We began meeting with builders and looked at a few builder spec plans, but did not see what we were looking for. We finally began looking on-line through thousands of plans, and discovered House Plan Gallery's HPG-2400 Morgan Ridge home plan and the HPG-2212 Hampton Avenue home design Both plans being very similar, offered exactly what we were looking for. The size of the breakfast areas could accommodate a dining room table and hutch which would allow the flex-space to be used as a study. Most people never use their formal dining rooms but once a year, so to us it seemed like a waste of space. We decided after comparing both plans and costs, that the Hampton Ave was the one for us. We love the exterior with the front bedroom with the bay window and the stone accents. The two covered porches are great for sitting outside and enjoying the evenings. Thankfully, we found a great builder who did an awesome job building our home and being responsive to all of our requirements. The team over at House Plan Gallery was also very helpful, especially when right before we were to break ground, the building department decided they wanted a reverse set of plans before they would issue the permits. We had to reverse the plans due to placement of the septic tank on the lot.Someone had come in on a day off to reverse the plans and got them to us later that same day! The process of building this home went much smoother than building our first home in Idaho did. The house turned out beautiful and we are very satisfied. The house has plenty of space for our family. The twins share a room currently, and we use one bedroom as a play room, and the other is an extra guest room that will eventually be turned into a nursery for another child. The bonus room is complete with a bathroom and shower and is perfect when grandparents come to visit, which they do frequently. The kitchen has plenty of counter-space and cabinets. The Hampton Ave is a great house plan, and we continually get great comments from family, friends and neighbors on how nice the house is. Several neighbors have even told us that this is their favorite house in the neighborhood. (I'm sure thats next to their own!) We are very thankful and blessed that we could build such a wonderful home!

We constantly receive compliments about how beautiful the home is...

I went online and found your house plans and loved them! We were looking to build something a little smaller, than the house we previously had, as we were moving from the gulf coast up to north Mississippi. When I found this plan, it was perfect for us. We constantly receive compliments about how beautiful the home is and how the floorplan is so well laid-out and utilizes every square inch of space. I really enjoyed building the home, and would recommend this designer, wholeheartedly, to anyone looking for a beautiful, well-designed, and affordable home design...

This house has been a real blessing for every member of our family, and will be a cherished home for many generations to come!

When my husband Bruce and I were dating seventeen years ago, we loved to dream and plan our future together. One thing that was important to both of us was to eventually build a house that would be a home for our family for many generations. My grandparents lived on a beautiful hillside farm that I had grown up next to for twenty-five years. It was a dream for me to have my children play in the same woods I played in as a child. My husband shared my dream, and so for fifteen years we prayed, saved, and planned. We looked at thousands of house plans. We knew exactly what we needed, what we wanted, and what we could only dream of. The first plans we liked slowly gave way to bigger ones as our family grew. My grandparents passed within three years of each other. The sorrow we felt at their loss was tempered only by the knowledge that my grandfather, Elmer, and grandmother, Dora, would love that their beloved great-grandchildren were bringing life back to "The Old Homeplace." The features that really drew us to this particular plan were the traditional beauty and functionality of the home. We were building on an existing 100 year old farm and wanted the house to look like it belonged there, without sacrificing any comforts. Over the past eight months, we have had the joy and privelege of watching the birth of a new chapter of our lives. We are moving from a 1500 square foot house in Defiance, Ohio, with very little yard to play in, and traffic such that I worry to let my children play outside alone. My 11-year-old daughter Emily is the fortunate child; she has her own room. My four sons, ages 4-14, share a room with two sets of bunk beds. There is not enough room to have dresser space for everyone. The one bathroom is a challenge on busy school days! The kitchen is inexplicably shrinking as the kids grow. Once everyone is seated at the table, no one can get up because there's not enough room to walk around the table! It's ok, if anyone needs a knife or fork, I only have to lean over to get it out of the drawer, and my husband can lean over to the stove to reach the pans. Tv and movies are usually watched with us laying all over each other like a pack of dogs. The heartbreak for me came when my son Elijah asked a friend over to spend the night, and the friend said our house was too small. NO MORE! As soon as we saw these plans, we said that THIS was the perfect one for our family! Beautiful on its own, and so easy to modify for our needs and dreams. Our new house has room for everyone, and then some! We have had so many people comment that the house looks like it belongs to the surroundings. The cheery yellow siding, white gingerbread trim on the porch and the fishscale siding in the peaks just cry farmhouse. We love to sit on the wide front porch and just enjoy the serenity as we watch the kids catch fireflies. We can sit in the back enclosed porch to relax and watch the kids play, or just watch the chickens as they peck around looking for bugs in the yard. The sound of rain on the green metal roof is one of my favorite sounds. To sit in the study in the window seat and read a book while the rain hits the roof...Heaven! The kids take such pride in their own space. They never imagined they would each get their own room! Even our four year old son Gideon loves his own room. He loves the "secret room" we tucked under the eaves for his toys. The bathrooms are wonderful - two or three sharing a bathroom is really a luxury! The large closets and amount of space for storage is more than we could have hoped for. We truly appreciate all the special touches of the house, and there is no unused or wasted space, which was important to me. The pantry area is a favorite of mine. No more storing food and pans in the basement! A long counter holds the crock pots, roasters and coffee pot, and a pocket door slides to hide it all in a moment. My children now understand the old adage, "a place for everything and everything in its place." The family room is roomy yet welcoming. No longer will we have to pile on one another to watch tv (but we may choose to!). The gas fireplace in the family room will be well used, and so easy to use. The gas fireplace in the master bedroom will keep us toasty on blustery winter evenings, or when the electricity fails, as it often does out in the country. The kids have so much room to spread out, and no reason not to have friends over. The huge bonus area over the garage will be their favorite place to hang out, but the basement has plenty of room for the workout equipment that we had no space for in our first home. It will get a lot of use from my oldest son Zack as he trains for wrestling season. There's still plenty of space to put a pool table, and even a ping pong table that has been requested by our nine-year-old Luke. I was raised to be happy with what we have, but to be truly thankful for what we have been blessed with. This house has been a real blessing for every member of our family, and will be a cherished home for many generations to come. This designer's plans were great to build from, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new home for their family!

We broke ground on our new home and found out we were expecting!

We were planning to add to our family, and our current 3 bedroom home was already extremely cramped. We decided on plan HPG-1992-1 because we loved the different pitches in the roof and the open flow the plan offered, as well as the bonus room which makes a great bedroom and full bath for our teenage daughter. The land was in the process of being cleared when we found out that we were expecting daughter #3. We broke ground on our new home July 28 2010 and with an awesome contractor we were able to move in the week after Thanksgiving. We had just enough time to settle in to our new home, which we absolutely love, before we welcomed our youngest daughter into the family on February 11, 2011. I have always heard if a marriage can survive building a house, it can surive anything... well my husband will tell you that we not only survived building a house, but building a house while pregnant; now that is a great accomplishment! Thank you so much for providing a wonderful plan for our new home.
